New World Auto Parts

Did you listen to the new “We Are The World” song?

Which version do you like better? The 80s version or the 2010 version?

I like the 80s version, better. I mean, I’m the kind of person who likes originals better than copies, and the 80s version had legends! (Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Ray Charles)

I didn’t like this new remake of the song. Justin Bieber sang the first lines, wtf? And there were too many people singing! And it sounded more like shouting than singing, and the rapping part was just ugh. The voices didn’t sound well together. And there was auto-tune! This was dumb. They made “new people” sing this remake. (new people meaning Justin Bieber, JoBros, Miley Cyrus–they’re not legends of the past decade) And Lil Wayne was singing there, too. …Eh, it’s just my opinion that the 80s version was better.

(posted here ’cause other sections are dead)

I definitely prefer the 80s version. Everyone in the original version had talent and were united for one great cause. However, this does not mean that the recent one is all bad. What stood out to me was Wyclef Jean. Wyclef Jean is a Haitian and his verses were so impassioned, emotional, and sincere. It’s as if we could understand the pain and suffering that Haitians must feel as well as the moral obligation that we as people fortunate enough to not experience such devastation have to help others. I like that they kept MJ’s part because to me, Michael Jackson was a person who truly cared. The King of Pop is benevolent. I hated Beiber, Miley Cyrus, and Lil Wayne. Beiber just sets a bad first impression. Miley has no talent (she sounds like a dying cat), and Lil Wayne is even worse off in the talent department. Last but not least, I loved that the producers chose Celine Dion to do Cindi Lauper’s verse. That verse is the hardest to do (in my opinion) and I like that they use our generation’s best female singer to take on this challenge.
